Dave & Darren – Mornings 5:30am – 10am
Dave Levora (AKA Big Poppa AKA The Iron Horse, AKA Cookie-Puss, AKA Mr. Elbows)
After graduating from Marist High School in Chicago (GO REDHAWKS!), Dave attended Loras College in Dubuque, where he worked on the campus radio station (KLOR) and after a brief internship, landed a job reading the news/sports and obituaries on WDBQ-AM. For real. Obituaries.
In May of 1995, Dave left the glamour of the weekday obituary assignment behind, and wandered south down the Mississippi River to work nights on KORB-FM The Planet 93.5 in Davenport. His plan was to stay in the Quad Cities no longer than one year.
Dave has been on-air personality on a number of other radio stations in the Quad Cities, including a successful run as one half of the Dave & Darren In The Morning show team with Darren Pitra on 97-Rock, Rock 104.9 (2004-2014) and a two year stint on WOC-AM 1420’s AM Quad Cities. He is THRILLED to be back on the air with Darren mornings on Planet 93.9, The Quad Cities Real Alternative Radio.
He serves as host for WQAD-TV Quad Cities’ “Brewed”, a half hour locally produced show exploring the craft beer scene throughout the Midwest. He lives in Bettendorf with his wife Jenni and their son, Owen.
Darren Pitra (AKA The Swami AKA Mr. Terrific, AKA Fudgie The Whale, AKA The Most)
Darren is a Quad Cities native having been born at the now defunct Moline Public Hospital and schooled in nearby Orion, Illinois. He began his radio career in 1989 and has worked for a variety of stations, some now defunct. His professional business relationship with Dave Levora began in 2004 and includes Nacho Radio, LLC. In his free time he enjoys sharing his leisure with some of his friends, some of his family and all of his dogs.
