4.22.25 Planet 93.9 Is Five Years Old!

Real Alternative Radio is now five years old!

On April 22nd, Planet 93.9 celebrates our fifth anniversary. From the beginning, we’ve made it clear that our mission is to remain locally owned and fiercely independent. We owe our independence to the fact that unlike most radio stations in the Quad Cities, we’re not owned by a large out of town corporation. Our headquarters are in Davenport, not New York or Texas.

Let’s talk about the bigger picture behind being “locally owned.”

Yes, it’s true. Our station owner is a Quad Citian.  And while there’s a local family behind the scenes at Planet 93.9 keeping the lights on, that’s not entirely what we mean by locally owned.

Planet 93.9 has enjoyed so much success because of people like you. Locals who found themselves listening to FM radio again for the first time in a long time. People who care enough about the station to tell their friends about it. It’s thanks to your patronage and feedback that we’re able to celebrate five years of Real Alternative Radio.

You own Planet 93.9 just as much as we do. You’re just not on the hook for any of the operating costs.

Last year, we asked for your input on the things you liked about Planet 93.9 and the areas you’d like to see us improve upon. Your response was both enthusiastic and constructive. We’d like to keep the conversation going with The Planet 93.9 Planeteer Club.
